McCall Winter Carnival - Mardi Gras!

Annually In February

Get ready, get set, Mardi Gras! For 54 years, the McCall Winter Carnival has brought miles of smiles along its parade route and snow sculpture tour. A mid-winter celebration that brings folks from all around the country for ten days of winter fun and adventure, this annual event in McCall hosts the Idaho state snow sculpting competition, tour of amateur snow sculptors, bonfires and daily music and outdoor events.

The carnival is home to the Monster Dog Pull competition which is open all participants from Yorkies to Mastiffs who compete in this must see carnival event that benefits the McPaws animal shelter.

Represent your alma mater during the annual BSU vs U of Idaho Black and Blue Hockey rivalry during the first weekend and stick around for the second weekend to witness the McCall Starz on Ice! production featuring world class skating champions including Olympians and Olympic hopefuls alike.

This yearly celebration of everything winter draws over 60,000 visitors to McCall for parades, fireworks, winter sports events and the whimsical snow sculptures located throughout the town. So grab your beads, put on your craziest hat and outfit and step into Mardi Gras mountain style.

Monster Dog Pull

Every February

A McCall Winter Carnival featured event.

The Monster Dog Pull , a Carnival staple, can't be missed. Register your pup at the event. All proceeds benefit the local McPaws animal shelter and is open to dogs of all sizes from Shiatsu to Mastiff. This gathering of canine superheroes is fun for family and friends of all ages.

A McCall Winter Carnival featured event.
World Professional Champion, Lori Benton and the McCall Figure Skating Club host this yearly event featuring Olympic, U.S. and World Champions as well as international performers in this elegant event. `On-the-Ice` Table seating and bleacher seating.

Spring Skiing

It's all the rage! Say goodbye to winter and hello to spring - it's shorts and tank top weather; early enough to enjoy the last of the snow and not so late that you have to ski with pruning shears.

Make them most of the in between seasons - there is still plenty of fun to be had!

Riggins Jet Boat Races

Every April

Start your engines! An exciting seasonal classic - World Jet Boat Racing in Riggins during the later part of April. The amazing photo by Evan Jones "Rustic" says it all.

Riggins Rodeo

Every May

From buffords to honkers and fighting bulls, you'll see it all at this classic rodeo event that takes place on the western banks of the main Salmon River. Soak up the sun during this late spring celebration of the western life style and the hard working and playing men and women that keep this sport alive.

Ponderosa Park Run

Every June

This family friendly events takes place in our local gem, Ponderosa State Park. The 1 mile to 7 mile routes will cover mixed terrain (paved, dirt, gravel) in this beautiful setting.

Need to cool off? The Park has several beaches where you can take a dip in to Payette Lake!

Proceeds benefit the Payette Lakes Ski Club family - Little Ski Hill and Bear Basin Nordic Center.

The GIG at Bistro 45

Every May

Live music fundraising event FBO GIG scholarship fund. Founded by Kit Worthington in 2008, the GIG Foundation for the Arts supports local students, musicians, voice artists and writers through scholarships and grants. The GIG brings the community and artisans together.This is an annual event a great way to support the arts while listening to great music, dining on great food and sipping delicious wine.

Skate Down Summer Series

Every July

Idaho Bowl Contest. Grab your boards and head for McCall! this annual event is great summer fun just a few blocks from Payette Lake. Spectator, bleacher seating. Bring a lunch. Pack it in and pack it out please.

Proceeds from this event benefit the Payette Lake Ski Club family - Little Ski Hill and Bear Basin Nordic Center.

Payette Lakes Classic and Wooden Boat Show

Every July

Come see these classic beauties on a sunny day in their element, the blue waters of Payette Lake in McCall. This three day event draws upwards of 3,000 antique and classic boat lovers from all around the country.

Grab a great meal at the Cutwater or Narrows restaurants on site. Boat show parade is held on Saturday.

The Summer Music Festival at Roseberry

Every July

Originating in the 1970`s by the McCall Folklore Society, the festival celebrates varied musical genres at an outdoor venue during three days each July at the Roseberry historic townsite barn.

Thursday night is kick-off night featuring performances by local musicians and students from the Kids Mountain Music Camp.

Bring a lawn chair and a friend for great music, food and fun.

The Barn Concert

Outdoor music and dance venue for old and young alike. Each year a local non-profit is chosen to benefit from the proceeds of this concert. Good music, casual country flair and fun. Pay`in it forward...this concert has become a must attend summer event.

McCall Mountain Triathalon

Every August

Sprint and Olympic distances and team categories. Challenging and scenic course beginning with Payette Lake swim, Warren Wagon Road cycle and Lick Crick Rd. run.

Snowdon Wildlife Santuary

Every September

Founded in the 1980's by Linda D'Eulis to rehabilitate and return injured and orphaned wildlife to the wild, Snowdon Sanctuary is a not for profit organization that relies on donor support and the efforts of the intern program participants.
The sanctuary is run by animal biologists and students of animal biology and provides hands on experience to help promote a healthy coexistence with wildlife and the ecosystem.

The sanctuary is open for public tours annually for one day only during the later part of September.

Payette Lake Run

Every Labor Day Weekend

Bring your A-game for this one. Three event distances all starting at Depot Park downtown begin at 5030 feet and with some distance events gaining an additional 370 in elevation. 30K, 5K, 8.6 mile courses. Spend the weekend. Good higher elevation training.

Skate by the Lake - Figure Skating Competition

Every October

Spectators are free to attend and witness competitive figure skaters off all ages participate in this popular event named after a beloved member of the community and skating dad, Jason Hawkins.

This US Figure Skating sanctioned event draws Skaters from all over the Pacific Northwest who gather to test and perform their skills.

Festival of Trees

Every November

Jump start your holiday shopping for crafts, jewelry, pottery and more! Silent auction for beautifully decorated trees, wreaths and everything the Season offers including unique pieces from local Artisans.

Each year a different charity is chosen to benefit from 100% of the proceeds.

Mom and Dad, bring the kids to play in Santa`s Workshop while you`re shopping. Free to the public.

Hockey For Hope

Put on your crazy clothes, purple please, and help support this annual American Cancer Society "Relay for Life" project. Proceeds from team registration assist in funding transportation to and from treatments, Hope House and others. Other website fundraising support can be made in the name of your favorite team or player.

The Snow Ball

Every December

An annual themed gala event to kick off ski season. Formal attire, dinner, dancing and auction all to benefit our local gems, the Little Ski Hill and the Bear Basic Nordic Center. This is a must attend event sponsored by the Payette Lakes Ski Club (PLSC).

The ball is fancy fun with all the trimmings and you might be able to pick up a gift or two at the auction for that someone special.

Funds raised at this event benefit the community by contributing to the success of the PLSC Mission Statement: to provide affordable, accessible, and sustainable, winter recreation facilities that provide a full spectrum of programs for the community while reducing any financial barriers to participation.

Holiday Ice Show

Every December

This festive, fun filled holiday production for the entire family features local skaters and members of the McCall Figure Skating Club.

Keep the spirit of the season bright and join the MFSC tots and teens in this celebration.
